The Conrad 40174 acoustic guitar, with its spruce top and Gibson-style headstock, is a compelling option for those seeking a guitar with a professional look and feel. Let's weigh the pros and cons of this instrument to help potential buyers make an informed decision.
Pros:1. Quality spruce top: The spruce top is a common choice for high-quality acoustic guitars due to its ability to produce a bright and clear tone.
2. Gibson-style headstock: This attractive headstock adds a touch of sophistication and professionalism to the guitar, reminiscent of Gibson's iconic designs.
3. Solid Agathis back and sides: Agathis is a good tonewood choice for the back and sides because it offers a warm, balanced sound without being too heavy on the wallet.
4. X-bracing: The guitar features X-bracing, which helps maintain the structural integrity of the top and enhances its tonal quality.
5. 20 frets: Having 20 frets allows for greater versatility and access to higher notes on the fingerboard.
Cons:1. Limited brand reputation: Conrad is not as well-known as some other guitar brands, so buyers may be hesitant due to a lack of brand trust.
2. Action: Some buyers have reported issues with the guitar's setup, requiring adjustments to the action for optimal playability.
3. Finish: The finish on the guitar may not be as durable as some higher-end options, potentially susceptible to scratches and wear over time.
4. String action: The string action might be set a bit too high for some players, especially those with smaller hands or a lighter touch.
In conclusion, the Conrad 40174 acoustic guitar offers a stunning appearance with its spruce top and Gibson-style headstock, as well as a solid construction. However, it may have some drawbacks, such as potential tuning stability issues and the need for string action adjustments. In the grand scheme of things, this model can be considered a good value for those who want a visually appealing and decent-sounding guitar withoutpaying a premium price. For those seeking the ultimate balance of quality, brand reputation, and playability, they might want to explore other options, such as Yamaha, Fender, or Taylor guitars in a similar price range. While the Conrad 40174 acoustic guitar stands out in terms of aesthetics, careful consideration of personal preferences, playing style, and budget is crucial before making a decision.
I have not screwed it down or glued which would likely help. The truss rod I imagine is holding it in tighter then would be if there was not a and assume because plastic cover although have removed. I had it strung up with some medium gauge acoustic strings and never seemed to bother at all but the crack flexes a little bit when torqued upon. The action on this guitar was pretty good in my opinion.
This guitar is sold as for parts or repair, it has a nice vintage sound. There are various scratches cracks and imperfections but I enjoy the vintage styling on this guitar. I'm not sure what the actual wood used on guitar is but Spruce a pretty good guess. Please see photographs as they are part of the.
So the big news on this one is there a crack headstock.
