Body and Construction:At its core, the Gretsch G3366 is built around a semi-hollow body with a single-cutaway design. This means that it provides the rich, resonant sound of a hollow body guitar, while also offering the feedback resistance and sustain stability of a solid body instrument. The body is crafted from select maple, while the maple neck features a custom C-shaped profile to ensure a comfortable playing experience for most hand sizes. The 12-inch radius ebony fingerboard is adorned with beautifully designed pearl block inlays, adding a touch of elegance to the guitar's appearance.
Hardware and Electronics:Equipped with two FilterTron humbucking pickups, the G3366 delivers the bright and clear tones that Gretsch is famous for. These pickups provide a balanced tone with plenty of clarity and presence, making them ideal for various playing styles, from country twang to bluesy riffing. Tuning stability is ensured by the Gotoh locking Tuning Machines, and the Bigsby vibrato tailpiece adds expressive extensions to your playing, allowing for excellent sustain and vibrato effects.
Additional Features: The Gretsch G3366 includes a variety of thoughtful features and design elements that enhance its overall value and appeal. These include:- A nicely bound body and neck, providing both a vintage look and exceptional durability
- Adjustable truss rod bridge for precise intonation and setup adjustments
- Charcoal body binding and a black pickguard to frame the guitar's sunburst finish
- Gretsch "F" stamped tuning machines and logo
Conclusion:In conclusion, the Gretsch G3366 Concert Septagonal Cutaway Sunburst guitar is an exceptional instrument that combines classic Gretsch design and modern components to create a versatile and highly playable electric guitar. The Gretsch G3366 is a concert-sized, cutaway, sunburst guitar that boasts a unique design and high-quality features. Regardless, purchasing any musical instrument is a significant investment, so it's vital to consider both the advantages and disadvantages before making a decision.
Pros:1. Unique Design: The Gretsch G3366 boasts a visually appealing, vintage-inspired design. Its concert cutaway shape offers easy access to the upper frets, making it ideal for playing intricate solos or complex chords.
2. Versatile Tone: The guitar features a versatile electronics system, including a set of FilterTron humbucking pickups with volume and tone controls for each pickup, a master volume control, and a master tone control. This provides ample tonal versatility, suitable for various genres.
3. High-Quality Construction: The G3366 offers a solid maple neck and a laminated maple body, ensuring durability, stability, and a solid tone. Additionally, its adjustable bridge and professional-quality hardware contribute to a strong, reliable connection between the strings and the body, improving tuning stability.
4. Affordable Price Point: Compared to some other Gretsch guitars, the G3366 is relatively affordable, making it an excellent option for both beginners and intermediate players who want to experiment with the Gretsch tone.
Cons:1. Heavier Weight: One of the drawbacks of the Gretsch G3366, as with many solid-body guitars, is its relatively heavy weight. At around 8.3 lbs, it may not be the best option for players who prefer a lighter instrument.
2. Action: While the factory-set action on the G3366 is generally acceptable, some players may find it a bit high for their taste. Adjusting the saddle height and truss rod may be necessary to achieve a more comfortable playing experience.
3. Plastic Bridge Saddles: Although the plastic bridge saddles of the G3366 are functional, some players may prefer the tonal benefits and smoother movement of metal saddles.
4. Lack of F-holes: The solid body design of the G3366, while advantageous for sustain and tonal clarity, eliminates the attractive visual appeal of an acoustic-electric body with F-holes.
Conclusion:The Gretsch G3366 Concert Cutaway Sunburst guitar presents several notable strengths, such as its unique design, versatile tone, and high-quality construction, making it a solid investment for both beginners and intermediate players. However, it comes with some drawbacks, like its weight, factory action, and plastic bridge saddles. Ultimately, despite the minor drawbacks, the G3366 offers excellent value for its price and could be an ideal choice for those seeking a Gretsch guitar without a significant financial commitment.
Recommendation:If you're in the market for a Gretsch guitar and are drawn to the features offered by the G3366, it's worth considering this model as a serious contender. Keep in mind that you may need to adjust the factory settings for optimal playing comfort, but the overall experience and versatility the G3366 provides will likely be well worth the investment.
I tried to capture in close up photos a glare that would show any defects, but struggled capturing them they were so light. Straight neck, little to no fret wear. Beautiful tone. Ask any questions prior to buying, review photos for best.
I am hard pressed to find any defects with it. No cracks, heavy scratches, or defects to note. Any defect would be superficial and what I consider very light playing marks that are no where close to going thru the clear coat.
Hard shell case included.
