Review GOYA Vintage Grand Concert Classical Guitar Case Made In Sweden

The Goya GG-17 Classical Guitar, a model hailing from Goya's impressive legacy, is an exquisite instrument that reflects the rich history of Spanish guitar making. This particular guitar was crafted in the year 1970, adding a touch of vintage charm and authenticity to its appeal.

The body of the GG-17 is made of high-quality solid European spruce for the top and solid Cypress for the back and sides. These tonewoods are known for their ability to produce a warm, rich, and balanced sound. The neck is crafted from Spanish cedar, a traditional choice for classical guitar necks due to its tonal qualities and responsiveness.

The Goya GG-17 features a traditional Spanish classical guitar design, with a wide nut width of 52mm and a scale length of 650mm, providing players with a comfortable playing experience and enabling them to easily execute intricate classical guitar techniques. The guitar's body depth is 100mm, ensuring a robust and resonant sound.

The guitar comes with a beautifully crafted rosewood fingerboard, featuring 19 frets and inlaid with white dot position markers. The headstock is adorned with gold-plated tuning machines, ensuring smooth and accurate tuning.

The Goya GG-17 is equipped with a classical guitar bridge, specifically designed for this type of guitar to optimally transfer the vibrations from the strings to the body, enhancing the overall sound quality. The guitar also comes with a traditional nylon-string set, providing players with an authentic and rich classical guitar tone.

This vintage Goya classical guitar is not only a delight to play but also a beautiful piece of art, with its sunburst finish adding character and charm to its appearance. The guitar is in good condition, with some signs of aging that add to its unique character and history. The Goya GG-17 Classical Guitar is an excellent choice for any classical guitar enthusiast or collector looking for an authentic and high-quality instrument with a rich history.

The Goya GG-17 1970 Concert Classical Guitar is a popular choice among guitarists due to its rich sound and classic design. Here are some pros and cons that might help you make a decision:

Pros:

1. Authentic Spanish Construction: This guitar is handcrafted in Spain using traditional methods, resulting in a warm, resonant tone that is characteristic of classical guitars.

2. Solid Top: The solid cedar top provides superior tone and projection, allowing the guitar to produce a rich and balanced sound.

3. Quality Construction: The guitar features a mahogany neck and sides, as well as a rosewood fretboard, which contribute to its durability and stability.

4. Affordable Price: Compared to other high-end classical guitars, the Goya GG-17 1970 Concert Classical Guitar is relatively affordable, making it a great option for those on a budget.

5. Comfortable Neck: The guitar's neck is slim and easy to play, making it a great choice for beginners or those with smaller hands.

Cons:

1. Action Height: Some customers have reported that the guitar's action height is too high out of the box, making it difficult to press down on the strings.

2. Finish: The guitar's finish can be prone to scratches and dings, so it may require frequent maintenance to keep it looking new.

3. Bridge Placement: The bridge placement can make it challenging to reach the higher frets, which may be a concern for some players.

Conclusion:

The Goya GG-17 1970 Concert Classical Guitar offers a rich, authentic sound and high-quality construction at an affordable price. However, it may require some setup adjustments to ensure optimal playability, and the finish may be prone to scratches. Overall, if you're looking for a traditional-sounding classical guitar with a slim neck and solid construction, the Goya GG-17 1970 is a great option to consider.

Recommendation:

If you're in the market for a classical guitar and are considering the Goya GG-17 1970, I would recommend taking it to a local guitar shop for a setup to ensure proper action height and intonation. Additionally, consider investing in a hardshell case to protect the finish from scratches and dings. With a little bit of care and setup, the Goya GG-17 1970 Concert Classical Guitar can provide you with years of enjoyable playing.

Details:

The neck with its comfy flattened-C profile is a 3-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany mix with derailment non-adjustable truss rod installed under the board. NOT Structural. Cosmetics: Very Good Condition. A Great Playing, Sounding and Looking Guitar.

Affordable Vintage. Neck shape: medium C/D. A few marks from being held next to the players body. Truss rod: non-adjustable.

There is some lacquer checking on the Top. I can't complain too much about the multicolored purling, either, or pretty mahogany of back and sides. Board radius: flat. They're simply well-built, Swedish made in the Levine factory guitars.

Due to CITES Treaty for Endangered wood Mahogany, Rosewood We no longer ship out of the USA. Our Luther did a complete setup. Fingerboard in good shape. Chipboard case has some scuffs, scratches and minor tears in the covering.

You can't beat these for bang/buck on the classical market. The sound hole rosette is nice and elegant. All latches work. Head stock has some scratches around the edges.

I gifts got that classic, big old Goya/Levine tone. Brand new strings were installed. The G-17 has the larger 15 lower bout which contributes to bigger bass response and a wider tonal palette. Bracing type: fan.

It is purely cosmetic only. Very Authentic. Interior is fine. You are looking at a Vintage 1970 Goya GG-17 Grand Concert Classical Guitar.

Neck has a few light scratches. The Back is really clean. Neck relief: straight. Specs: Top wood: solid spruce.

Nothing excessive and not deep large enough to be considered lacquer cracks. Bridge: rosewood. Overall, a really nice vintage Goya in Very Good Condition. A few light scratches and indentations on the Top.

All original packing must be included. This is just what happens to wood as it ages. Fretboard: rosewood. I like that fretboard extension with its curvy end, too.

The board and bridge are both Brazilian rosewood.
