Pros:

1. Authentic vintage tone: The 1969 Guild Twelve-String 512 is known for its rich, full-bodied sound and increased sustain compared to modern twelve-string guitars due to its age and craftsmanship.

2. Investment potential: Vintage guitars, especially those from esteemed manufacturers like Guild, can potentially increase in value over time, making them a wise investment.

3. Rarity: The 1969 Guild Twelve-String 512 is a relatively rare guitar, adding to its allure and desirability among collectors and serious musicians.

4. Historical significance: Owning a guitar with such a rich history and provenance, particularly a 50-year-old instrument, can be an exciting and rewarding experience for both musical and sentimental reasons.

5. Playability: Given the age of the guitar, the wood has had time to settle, potentially resulting in a smoother neck and action.

Cons:

1. Preservation requirements: Vintage guitars may need to be handled with greater care due to their age and potential wear. Regular maintenance, including repairs and restringing, may be necessary to preserve and maintain the instrument's condition and value.

2. Possibility of issues: Due to their age, vintage instruments like the 1969 Guild Twelve-String 512 may have various concerns such as frets wearing down, potentiometer failures, and hardware issues, which may require regular upkeep or replacement.

3. Cost: The price point for a 1969 Guild Twelve-String 512 vintage guitar can be significantly higher than its modern counterparts. This added expense may be a deterrent to some potential buyers.

4. Usability: When compared to modern twelve-string guitars, vintage models may not be as comfortable for some players due to factors such as neck thickness and body shape. It's crucial to test a vintage 512 guitar before purchasing to ensure it's a comfortable fit for your playing style.

Conclusion:

Buying a vintage 1969 Guild Twelve-String 512 guitar comes with its unique set of advantages and challenges. While there are potential disadvantages such as maintenance requirements and high cost, the experience of owning a historic instrument with such a rich and sought-after sound profile can be a truly enjoyable one. Consider your budget, level of commitment to guitar preservation, and playing style before making a decision. If you're willing to invest the time, resources, and care required, a vintage 1969 Guild Twelve-String 512 guitar can be a truly rewarding addition to your collection.

Recommendation:

Before making a purchase, it is highly recommended that you try playing a 1969 Guild Twelve-String 512 guitar in person. This allows you to assess its condition, determine whether you are comfortable with its playability, and gain a better understanding of whether the investment is right for you. If testing a guitar in person isn't possible, look for trustworthy and knowledgeable sellers or retailers that offer a fair return policy. Carefully scrutinize the instrument's condition reports, photos, and customer feedback to ensure that you're making a sound investment.

Details:

There are no defects with the exception of some slight finish checking on the side of the upper bout and back. Guild twelve string guitars have set the standard by which all others are judged. This guitar sounds and plays beautifully.

It comes with some extra new sets of strings and its original case, which shows some wear and has a make shift handle. This is a vintage Guild f512 twelve string guitar, serial number 48195, which dates it to around1969 70. I also have a new case that I ll include instead of the old one if desired. The f 512 continues the Guild twelve string legacy, matching a tight grain steak spruce top with Indian rosewood back and sides to produce shimmering highs, singing Midas, and a warm, focused bass response that truly sets it apart.

With elegant cosmetic appointments, premium specifications and exceptional play ability not commonly associated with twelve string guitars, the f 512 is one of the finest twelve string guitars available today. Or, I ll include both cases for a slight extra shipping charge.
