The Hondo H155C 80s Korean Acoustic Guitar is a vintage gem, ready to bring rich and authentic sound to your music. This guitar, manufactured in the 1980s in South Korea, boasts a classic design and construction that has withstood the test of time.

The body of the Hondo H155C is crafted from solid Sitka spruce for the top and laminated mahogany for the back and sides. This combination produces a well-balanced tone with strong bass response and clear treble notes. The guitar's slim neck, made of mahogany, is comfortable to play and features a 14-inch radius and 19 frets, allowing for easy access to the higher frets.

The Hondo H155C comes with a rosewood fretboard, which not only adds to the guitar's aesthetic appeal but also contributes to its tonal qualities. The guitar's nut is made of bone, ensuring optimal string action and sustain. The bridge is also made of rosewood, and its compensated saddle helps maintain accurate intonation throughout the length of the neck.

The Hondo H155C 80s Korean Acoustic Guitar features open-gear tuning machines with white plastic buttons, which provide smooth and stable tuning. The guitar's finish is in excellent condition, with a natural gloss that enhances the guitar's beauty and protects it from wear and tear.

The Hondo H155C is an acoustic guitar produced by Hondo, a Korean guitar manufacturer during the 1980s. This guitar is often marketed as a "vintage" or "retro" instrument and can be found in the "ready-to-play" condition, meaning it has been set up and is ready for use. Here are some potential pros and cons of buying a Hondo H155C:

Pros:

1. Authentic Vintage Sound: The Hondo H155C offers a unique and authentic vintage sound that sets it apart from modern guitars. Its tone can be described as warm, rich, and mellow, making it suitable for various music genres.

2. Affordable: Compared to high-end acoustic guitars, the Hondo H155C is relatively more affordable, making it an excellent option for beginners or those on a budget.

3. Durable Construction: The guitar features a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and a rosewood fingerboard. These materials are known for their durability and ability to produce great sound quality.

4. Playability: The Hondo H155C is often praised for its comfortable neck and easy playability, making it a great choice for beginners or those looking for a guitar that is easy to learn on.

5. Nostalgic Appeal: The Hondo H155C's vintage appearance can be an attractive feature for guitarists who appreciate the history and aesthetics of older instruments.

Cons:

1. Potential Need for Setup: Since the Hondo H155C is a vintage guitar, it may require some setup work before it's ready to play optimally. This could include adjusting the intonation, action, or truss rod.

2. Limited Availability: The Hondo H155C is no longer in production, so finding one in good condition can be a challenge. This may result in higher prices or a longer search.

3. Possible Quality Variations: As with any guitar, especially vintage models, there may be variations in the quality of craftsmanship and materials used. This could lead to inconsistencies in the sound and playability of individual Hondo H155C guitars.

4. Limited Customization Options: Since the Hondo H155C is a vintage model, there are limited customization options available. This means that buyers may not be able to make significant modifications to the guitar to better suit their preferences or playing style.

Conclusion:

The Hondo H155C is a unique and affordable acoustic guitar with a warm, rich sound and vintage aesthetic. Its durability, comfortable playability, and nostalgic appeal make it an excellent choice for beginners or those looking for a guitar with a distinct character. However, potential buyers should be aware of the potential need for setup work and the limited availability and customization options of this vintage model. Ultimately, the Hondo H155C can be a great addition to any guitar collection, offering a unique sound and playing experience.

Recommendation:

If you're interested in the Hondo H155C, I would recommend thoroughly researching its condition, setup requirements, and price before making a purchase. Consider visiting local guitar shops or online marketplaces to try one out in person or to compare prices and availability. Additionally, be prepared for potential setup costs and the possibility of encountering variations in quality. Overall, the Hondo H155C is a worthy investment for those seeking an authentic vintage guitar with a rich, mellow tone and retro appeal.

Details:

If you can't access it especially if don't have an iPhone, please let me know. Overall, this is a nice vintage guitar. At the 12th fret action on low E string is approximately 2.75mm. In the video I said that action was at 3mm but tightened truss rod a bit and it brought down.

There is some room to shave down the saddle but not much, maybe 1/2mm which would bring action at 12th 2.5mm be awesome. The neck is straight and theres not any significant wear to the fretboard. The body is in nice shape with no major blemishes or scratches. I removed the two bolts from bridge because think they can always cause more harm than good.

This is a nice Hondo II H156C guitar, likely from the 1980that was made in Korea. The head stock is nice and the tuners are original so they not as smooth a new set but function well enough. The neck is straight but it does have the typical dip at fingerboard extension. Some people like a higher action so I ll leave that up to you.
