The Hohner Hernani HW200 acoustic guitar, model 1857, is a popular choice among beginners and intermediate musicians due to its affordable price and decent quality. Here are some pros and cons to help you make an informed decision:
Pros:1. Affordable: The HW200 is one of the most affordable acoustic guitars available in the market. It's a great option for beginners who are just starting out and want to practice without making a significant investment.
2. Solid Top: The guitar features a solid satin spruce top, which is known for its good sound quality and durability. This is rare for budget guitars in this price range.
3. Agathis Back and Sides: The back and sides of the guitar are made of agathis wood, which provides a warm and rich tone. "Agathis is known for its mid-range volume and resonance, making it a popular choice for affordably priced acoustic guitars," according to Guitar Center.
4. Easy to Play: The HW200 has a "D" shaped neck, which is widely considered to be one of the most comfortable necks for beginners. It also has a relatively short scale length of 25.3 inches.
5. Good Build Quality: The overall build quality is quite good for the price. The guitar has a solid construction with no significant issues reported by customers.
Cons:1. Action May Need Adjustment: Some customers have reported that the action on the HW200 may need adjustment out of the box. This can make it difficult for beginners to play comfortably.
2. Limited Tone: The solid spruce top and agathis back and sides do not provide the same tone quality as more expensive guitars with solid wood backs and sides. However, for the price, the tone is still quite good.
3. Basic Electronics: The HW200 comes with basic electronics, which may not be enough for more advanced players. It may be worth considering upgrading to better electronics if you plan on gigging or recording.
4. Limited Customization: The HW200 comes in a few different finishes, but there is limited customization available. This may be a downside for some players who want to personalize their instrument.
5. Limited Longevity: The HW200 is built to a budget, and some parts may not last as long as more expensive guitars. However, for the price, the guitar is quite durable.
Conclusion:The Hohner Hernani HW200 acoustic guitar is a great option for beginners and intermediate players who want a decent sounding guitar without breaking the bank. While it may not have the same tone quality or customization options as more expensive guitars, it offers solid construction, affordable price, and plays comfortably. If you're looking for a budget-friendly guitar to practice on, the HW200 is a solid choice.
Recommendation:If you're looking for a budget-friendly acoustic guitar, the Hohner Hernani HW200 is definitely worth considering. However, if you have a bit more to spend, you may want to consider upgrading to a higher-end guitar with better tone quality and customization options.
