Product Description: Gibson J-885 Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Fishman Ellipse Aura J200 pickup system (Model: J885AVSNH1)
The Gibson J-885 Acoustic-Electric Guitar is a beautifully crafted instrument that seamlessly merges the rich, authentic tone of a traditional acoustic guitar with the convenience and versatility of a built-in pickup system. Originally introduced in 2012, this model belongs to the Gibson Advanced Jumbo series, and it exemplifies the brand's unwavering commitment to quality and innovation.
At its heart, the J-885 is built with a solid Sitka spruce top, which is responsive and vibrant, delivering clear, balanced tones. The guitar's back and sides are made from mahogany, providing a strong foundation with rich, warm undertones. The sweeping curve of the advanced jumbo body shape delivers a robust sound with impressive volume. The gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish not only enhances the beauty of the guitar's figure but also allows the wood to breathe and resonate more freely.
The J-885 features a elegant modified V neck profile, which provides a smooth and comfortable playing experience. The guitar boasts a rosewood fingerboard with 20 medium-jumbo frets, which contribute to excellent intonation and action. The crown inlays, made from abalone, provide the perfect visual accent to this masterpiece. The 12th fret inlay is a traditional full-width "Gibson" diamond, while the 1st through 11th frets are adorned with sage green triangle inlays. The pearloid headstock overlay is another stunning detail that showcases the artistry of Gibson's craftsmen.
The Gibson J-885 acoustic-electric guitar is fitted with the revolutionary Fishman Ellipse Aura J200 pickup system. This innovative technology consists of a series of piezo elements situated under the saddle and the 14th to 19th frets, capturing the guitar's true acoustic tone when played acoustically. Additionally, the Fishman piezo systems features the Ambient Sensor, which captures the sound of the instrument as it is heard in its entirety. This discreet, tape-like sensor is placed around the exterior of the soundhole, picking up the entire acoustic tone, resulting in a more comprehensive and natural "miked" sound. Directly connected to the Ellipse soundhole pickup, the Aura J200 pickup system provides enhanced control over the tonal character proving you true versatility.
The Gibson J-885 acoustic-electric guitar is the perfect blend of timeless design and cutting-edge technology. Whether you're performing on stage or practicing at home, this guitar delivers the authentic sound of an acoustic guitar with the added flexibility of a built-in pickup system.

The j-185 is widely regarded as best sounding Gibson acoustic guitar. The action is set to a nice comfortable 4 32 and 3 inches as measured at 12th fret. The most prominent specs are: nut width scale steak spruce top curly maple back and sides.
It comes with the original case and paperwork. It has the fishman ellipse aura factory installed that really captures rich resonant tone of guitar. The guitar isn't a case queen but it definitely has not been abused. Cosmetically it has very honest play wear in the form of superficial swirls, normal pick wear, and most notable is scratch on back that I photographed.
The frets are an honest 80 and neck has perfect slight relief with a large amount of saddle exposed. There is tarnishing on the hardware, and other than that it in really nice shape. This is a very well maintained and gorgeous sounding 6 year old j-185. There are no cracks or repairs.
