Review MARTIN Year Guitar Custom 35

The Martin Guitar 406835, with its rich history rooted in 1973, stands as a testament to the unwavering craftsmanship, tone, and charm of Martin acoustic instruments. This treasure comes in the form of a D-28 Model, one of Martin's most iconic designs that has graced the music scene for over 80 years.

The body of this guitar is crafted from rich, solid Sitka Spruce for the top and stunninglayered Mahogany for the back and sides. This combination provides an exceptional balance between strength and resonance, resulting in a powerful, full-bodied tone that Martin is renowned for. The Solid East Indian Rosewood bridge and fingerboard contribute to the guitar's resonance and sustain, offering players a smooth, responsive feel.

Upon closer inspection, you'll notice the intricate herringbone rosette pattern adorning the soundhole, a classic Martin design element that adds a touch of sophistication and elegance. The 14-fret neck has a modified low oval neck shape that provides comfort and ease while playing, allowing players to glide effortlessly up and down the frets.

Robust, yet elegant, the Martin 406835 D-28 boasts a wedge-shape top, offering optimal structural integrity alongside an appealing and distinctive appearance. The 25.4" scale length, 1-11/16" nut width, and 20 frets create a versatile and comfortable playing experience for a vast array of playing styles.

Adding to the guitar's beauty is its high-gloss finish, which bolsters the instrument's structural stability while accentuating its striking appearance. This finish protects the wood, ensuring your Martin D-28 1973 maintains its resonance and charm for years to come.

The D-28 1973, with its Set Up at the Martin factory, guarantees exceptional playability and optimal intonation out of the box. This impeccably crafted instrument is an investment in both sound and heritage that is equal parts pleasure to play and a proud addition to your collection.

The Martin D-35 1973 model is a highly sought-after vintage acoustic guitar, known for its rich tone and superior craftsmanship. Here are some pros and cons to help you decide if buying this guitar is the right choice for you.

Pros:

1. Authentic Vintage Tone: This guitar features the classic Martin D-35 design, which has been a favorite among musicians since the 1960s. The solid mahogany back and sides, and the Sitka spruce top, produce a powerful, balanced tone that is sought after by many musicians.

2. Excellent Build Quality: Martin guitars are renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship, and the D-35 1973 model is no exception. The solid wood construction, fine materials, and attention to detail all contribute to the guitar's premium feel and long-lasting durability.

3. Investment Potential: Vintage Martin D-35 models are highly collectible, and the 1973 edition is particularly desirable due to its aged tonewoods and historic significance. As such, owning a well-preserved 1973 D-35 could serve as a solid investment, with the potential for future appreciation in value.

4. Flexible Playability: The D-35's modified low oval neck profile and 25.4-inch scale length offer a comfortable playing experience for most players. Additionally, the 14-fret design provides easy access to the upper frets, making it suitable for various playing styles and genres.

Cons:

1. High Cost: The Martin D-35 1973 model is a premium instrument, and its price reflects its historic value, craftsmanship, and rarity. For many players, this guitar may be an expensive investment that is beyond their budget.

2. Weight and Size: Being a solid wood guitar with a large body, the D-35 1973 model is quite heavy and bulkier compared to modern guitars. This can make it less convenient for travel or extended playing sessions.

3. Maintenance and Care: A solid wood guitar like the D-35 requires more maintenance and care compared to modern guitars with laminated bodies. Regularly checking for humidity levels, cleaning, and proper storage are essential to ensure the guitar's longevity.

4. Limited Availability: Due to its vintage status and popularity, the Martin D-35 1973 model may be challenging to find in good condition. This scarcity can contribute to the high price, and potential buyers may need to consider alternatives or explore other options.

Conclusion:

The Martin D-35 1973 model is a truly exceptional guitar, with a rich, authentic vintage tone, unmatched build quality, investment potential, and flexible playability. However, its high cost, weight, size, limited availability, and requiring more maintenance make it a significant investment. Consider your budget, playing style, and priorities to determine if the benefits outweigh the challenges. If you're willing to invest in a highly coveted guitar with impressive tone and historical significance, then the D-35 1973 model could be a worthwhile addition to your collection.

Recommendation:

If you are captivated by the Martin D-35 1973 model, it's essential to research dealers and private sellers to find a reliable and authentic source. When making a purchase, request photographs, documentation, and playably test the guitar to ensure its condition is satisfactory. If the price remains prohibitive, consider exploring vintage Martin D-28 or D-35 models from other years, or investigate modern alternatives with similar tonal qualities and build quality.

Details:

It has spruce top and a 3 piece rosewood back if it sells I will put in a cheap black case, and ship it good, I am keeping the Martin blue case.
