Crafted during Martin's golden era, this D-28 boasts a beautiful Brazilian rosewood back and sides, which are known for their exceptional warmth, resonance, and durability.

The top of this instrument is made of solid Sitka spruce, a wood species that provides an optimal balance between strength and projection. Sitka spruce tops are widely used in premium acoustic guitars because of their ability to produce clear, balanced, and resonant sound.

The guitar's neck is made of modified low oval profile mahogany, and it sports a 25.4-inch (64.5 cm) scale length and a 1-11/16-inch (42.8 mm) nut width. This combination creates a comfortable and versatile playing experience.

The fingerboard and bridge of this D-28 are crafted from elegant Brazilian rosewood, contributing to a visually stunning and tonally superior instrument. Each note rings clear and full, and the guitar's overall sound is rich, warm, and articulate. Known for its rich tone and impeccable craftsmanship, this instrument is a popular choice among professionals and collectors. In this analysis, we will discuss the pros and cons of owning a 1966 Rosewood Brazilian D128 Martin D-28.

Pros:

1. Tone: This guitar produces a powerful, balanced, and full-bodied tone that is highly sought after in the musical community. Its Sitka Spruce top complements the Rosewood back and sides well, resulting in a warm and rich sound.

3. Playability: Its neck profile and low action make it an excellent instrument for both strumming and fingerpicking styles. The rosewood fretboard is smoother, minimizing hand fatigue during long playing sessions.

4. Collectability: Due to its vintage status and limited production, a 1966 Rosewood Brazilian D128 Martin D-28 can be an excellent investment for collectors. Many musicians and collectors are willing to pay top dollar for these rare gems.

5. Versatility: The 12-fret neck joint provides a unique playing experience; it results in excellent tone and improves access to the higher frets, making this guitar suitable for various playing styles and genres.

Cons:

1. Price: Due to its rarity and high demand, the 1966 Rosewood Brazilian D128 Martin D-28 comes with a significant price tag. This might be an obstacle for beginning to intermediate players or those on a tight budget.

2. Maintenance: As with most vintage instruments, the 1966 Rosewood Brazilian D128 Martin D-28 requires regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance. This might include setting up the instrument, adjusting the intonation, and addressing any potential structural issues.

3. Weight: Weighing approximately 5 lbs, this guitar is somewhat heavier than modern Martin D-28 models. This could be a concern for those looking for a lightweight instrument, although the extra weight may contribute to the guitar's tone and stability.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the 1966 Rosewood Brazilian D128 Martin D-28 is a remarkable instrument, offering unparalleled tone, exceptional build quality, and timeless beauty. Its vintage status, limited production, and impressive craftsmanship make it a popular choice among professionals, collectors, and enthusiasts. However, its high price point, maintenance requirements, and weight may be drawbacks for some.

Details:

It does not have the usual top crack under the pick guard or anywhere and no bridge lift or play scratches. There are no marks worth mentioning except the small indention on the lower bout as pictured and a few other small ones that are not worth mentioning. He didn't even play it.

Please see pic of the appraisal from grin's. Please serious offers only, thanks. The neck is straight and there is no pickup or strap button just pure Martin28.

It come with it's original hard shell case that is in excellent condition as well. In fact it still needs to be broke in. This guitar could be behind glass in a museum. Gorgeous 1966 Martin28 in excellent condition.

I can't see any finish checking or cracking. I will only ship to the continental USA signature required. This guitar is ready for another 50 years no problem.

It is set up to the original Martin specs with medium gauge strings so dread naught. I acquired the guitar from the original owner who kept it in his studio always. There are no cracks, breaks or b. We agreed to do a neck re set and new frets while we had it apart, he also suggested lifting, ironing and re gluing the original pick guard so no shrinkage could occur and cause a crack.

Once I got the guitar I put it in its own airplane seat and took it to grin's in Nashville and asked Derek Selena master Luther for grin's to go through it and make suggestions if needed. The only new part is the bone saddle.
