The Martin suggested retail price for the 1996 j 40bk guitar was and there was no listed price for the 1997 model probably due to the end of production. Guitar condition I purchased this guitar used and it is in very good condition. The back, sides, head stock, and fret board are all in very nice shape.

I had it checked by the guitar repair of Tampa bay grab and it is in perfect working order. This 1997 custom jumbo guitar was built on the j 40mbk platform and might be the last one produced. This guitar comes with a Martin 640 case that is in excellent condition with just a few scuffs on the outside. Internet research my internet research produced only a few j 40bk black guitar sales during the past few years and they appear to be a hard to find item that is rising in price.

Item Martin jumbo custom black acoustic guitar. One in the USA the other in Amsterdam. Only j 40bk black guitars were produced during this 10 year period.

In 1997 Martin produced only 2 j 40bk black guitars and they discontinued production that year. Martin advertising states the j 40 jumbo guitar produces a tone that is beautifully balanced with powerful response and volume, enhancing the art of the singer songwriter. I found 2 Martin j 40bk black guitar sales this year on.

The build sheet and specifications I got from Martin are in the last photo. There are also 3 tiny dimple impressions in the spruce top located on the top upper right hand side.
