Review EKO Ranger Vi 1970s Electric Acoustic Guitar In Hardshell Case

The Eko Ranger 6 Ranger VI is a unique and captivating electric-acoustic guitar that hails from the 1970s, showcasing a rich heritage of vintage style and superior craftsmanship. This instrument offers a versatile sound experience, thriving in both live performances and studio recordings.

Expertly crafted, the Ranger VI boasts a solid Spruce top, which is renowned for its tonal clarity, strength, and ability to resonate beautifully. The guitar's body is made of Mahogany, a popular choice for its distinctively warm and rich sounding tonewood. Moreover, its Neck is constructed from Mahogany with a beautiful Rosewood fretboard, known for its durability and ability to maintain harmony and sustain along the length of the neck.

The Eko Ranger 6 Ranger VI is outfitted with six classical strings to accommodate the style of playing typically associated with the acoustic-electric market segment. This setup allows the guitar to display a higher degree of responsiveness with expanded tonal possibilities and a broader dynamic range, enabling players to venture into various musical genres seamlessly.

Adding to the guitar's allure, it features a built-in pickup system, allowing it to function as an electric guitar as well. This innovation empowers the player to amplify their sound in live settings, ensuring a powerful and clear tone for both acoustic and electric performances. The bridge pickup is a prominent addition, providing an authentically electric sound while maintaining the essence of the acoustic tone.

Undeniably, the Eko Ranger VI is an impressive piece of musical equipment, brimming with character and versatility. Its vintage aesthetic, coupled with its masterful craftsmanship and tonal capabilities, makes it an enticing choice for guitar enthusiasts and musicians seeking a distinct and versatile instrument in their musical journey.

The Eko Ranger 6 and Ranger VI are two popular electric-acoustic guitars from the 1970s that have gained a following among collectors and musicians due to their unique design and tone. Here are some pros and cons to help you decide whether buying one of these guitars is a good investment for you.

Eko Ranger 6: Pros:

* Unique design with a sleek, compact body

* Tonewood combination of mahogany back and sides, spruce top, and maple neck provides good balance and tone

* Hollow body design produces a rich and resonant acoustic sound

* Dual pickups offer versatility for both electric and acoustic sounds

* Vintage look and feel makes it a desirable collectors' item

Cons:

* The hollow body design makes it vulnerable to feedback, particularly at higher volumes

* The neck may require adjustment or replacement if it has not been set up properly

* The tuning stability may not be consistent, especially for the G and B strings

* The pickups may not have the clarity and definition of more modern guitars

Eko Ranger VI: Pros:

* Solid body design reduces feedback and makes it suitable for louder playing situations

* The 24.75" scale length and thin neck profile make it comfortable for players with smaller hands

* The tonewood combination of mahogany back and sides, spruce top, and mahogany neck provides a warm and balanced sound

* Dual pickups offer versatility for both electric and acoustic sounds

* Vintage look and feel adds to its collectability

Cons:

* Solid body design limits the natural resonance and acoustic sound of the guitar

* The pickups may not have the same clarity and definition as more modern guitars, especially in the high end

* The bridge may require adjustment for proper intonation

* The fretboard may have some wear, especially near the edges

Conclusion:

Both the Eko Ranger 6 and Ranger VI have their unique strengths and weaknesses. The Ranger 6's hollow body design provides an authentic acoustic tone but can be prone to feedback. In contrast, the Ranger VI's solid body design reduces feedback but limits the natural resonance of the guitar.

Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on your playing style and preferences. If you value an authentic acoustic sound and can work around the potential feedback issues, the Ranger 6 may be the better choice for you. However, if you need a guitar that can handle louder playing situations without feedback and prefer a more consistent, stable tuning, the Ranger VI may be a better option.

Recommendation:

Before making a purchase, it is recommended that you try playing both models in person if possible, to determine which one suits your needs and preferences better. If you are unable to try them out, be sure to check with the seller for any known issues and request pictures and videos to assess the condition of the guitar. Additionally, consider having the guitar set up by a professional luthier to ensure proper intonation and playability.

Details:

This guitar has the bridge lifting up and lots of cracks in finish. The case is in great shape. Vintage open back tuners. It has the fisherman pickup.

Used EKO Vintage classic electric acoustic guitar with hardshell case. The neck is beautiful very nice and straight frets nut. See pictures. Never seen a neck like this on these.

And new strings. This could be fixed or played as is. Low action and easy to play. It still plays and sounds great.
