The Yamaha RGZ612P, a guitar model from the late 1980s, is a classic instrument that still garners interest among guitar enthusiasts. To help you make an informed decision about purchasing one, here are some potential pros and cons:

Pros:

1. Tone: The RGZ612P is known for its distinct tone, which is a result of its solid body design and active pickups. It is often described as bright, clear, and powerful, making it a popular choice for various music genres including rock, pop, and metal.

2. Playability: This guitar model features a fast and thin neck, which makes it a favorite among shredders and players who want a quick response from their instrument. Its 24 frets and 25.5-inch scale length add to its playability, making it versatile and suitable for various playing styles.

3. Durability: Solid body guitars like the RGZ612P tend to be more durable than their semi-acoustic or acoustic counterparts. This makes the RGZ612P a good investment for guitarists who gig regularly or just want a reliable instrument that can withstand the rigors of regular use.

4. Upgrades: The RGZ612P provides ample room for upgrades, allowing players to customize the instrument to their specific preferences. Common upgrades include changing the pickups, installing a new nut, or re-fretting the neck.

Cons:

1. Action and intonation: Due to their age, some RGZ612P guitars may require adjustments to the action and intonation. While this is a common issue with vintage or used guitars, it can be a significant inconvenience for players who prefer a consistent setup.

2. Weight and size: The solid body design of the RGZ612P contributes to its weight and size, making it less portable than some other guitars. This might be a consideration for guitarists who travel frequently or need a smaller, lighter instrument for recording sessions or gigs.

3. Tone preferences: While the RGZ612P has a distinct tone that appeals to many guitarists, it may not be ideal for those seeking a more traditional, warm, or mellow tone. Keep in mind that this is a matter of personal preference, and the RGZ612P's tone may or may not suit your style.

Conclusion:

The Yamaha RGZ612P late 1980s guitar model offers an appealing combination of tone, playability, durability, and upgradeability, making it a solid investment for guitarists who are looking for a reliable and versatile instrument. However, some potential downsides include the need for adjustments to the action and intonation and the weight and size of the solid body design. Ultimately, the decision to purchase an RGZ612P will depend on your personal preferences, playing style, and requirements, so it's a good idea to try one out in person or consult with a guitar expert before making your final decision.

Recommendation:

If you're interested in the Yamaha RGZ612P but are concerned about the potential downsides, you might consider exploring the contemporary RG series or the newer Pacifica series from Yamaha. These guitar models offer similar design elements and tone characteristics as the RGZ612P but may address some of the concerns related to action, intonation, and portability. Ultimately, the best way to determine which guitar is right for you is to try several options and compare the features, tone, and playing feel.

Details:

Yes, its a left handed Yamaha RGZ612P. For those of you who don't know, these were one the most underrated guitars 80s and that's why see them often, people hang on to 600 model's higher let alone left handed things sound played fantastic real cheap till a few years ago then started snap up better ones are getting fewer further between. I have a neuron muscular disorder that affects my left hand, attempted to switch, didn't go too bad, but not good enough where i'll get on stage and say look what can do. So why am I getting rid of this. Because i'm not left handed.

Seriously, great guitar. Happy buying.
