Recommendation:If the 814CE-Original Taylor guitar meets your budget, personal preferences, and needs, you would likely be pleased with this investment in your musical journey. If not, there could be other options within Taylor's lineup or other reputable brands that might fit your criteria better. Ultimately, playing and trying various guitars is the best approach to deciding which one feels, sounds, and looks the best for you.
It has rosewood back and sides, and it has been out of my non smoking climate controlled house only a very few times since new, mostly to accompany our singing in church. I feel the need to cut to one guitar, and being a lifelong martin fan, I just can't part with that one, so this one has to go. Until I went to list it, I thought that both it and the case were totally blemish free, but I found a pinhead size nick on the top lower bout, a few inches from the bridge. This guitar has great tone and fingers more easily than my martin.
It shows in one of the photos. There is absolutely no other blemish or sign of wear to either the guitar or the case, as far as I can tell.
I have no idea when nor how it got there. I am the original owner of this 2005 Taylor 814CE with Taylor expression system.
