Review TAYLOR Guitar Acoustic

The Taylor 914ce 1996 is a highly prized acoustic-electric guitar from Taylor Guitars, a renowned manufacturer known for its high-quality instruments. This specific model, produced in 1996, showcases the craftsmanship and innovation that Taylor has become famous for.

The body of this guitar is crafted from Sitka spruce for the top, layered Indian rosewood for the back and sides, and a Venetian cutaway. The combination of these materials provides a rich, resonant tone with excellent projection and balance. The guitar's sleek satin finish enhances the natural beauty of the wood while allowing it to breathe and resonate freely.

The Taylor 914ce 1996 features a Venetian cutaway, which provides players with increased access to the upper frets without sacrificing the guitar's aesthetics. Its neck is made of mahogany, with a diameter of 1.725 inches at the nut and a scale length of 25.5 inches. The guitar comes with 20 frets and a sliding dovetail neck joint that ensures a secure and stable connection between the neck and the body.

This guitar is outfitted with the prestigious Expression System pickup, which delivers high-quality, natural-sounding amplified tone. The under-saddle pickup captures the guitar's true acoustic tone, and the built-in pre-amp system features a three-band equalizer and volume control, making it easy for players to shape their tone for different performances or recording applications.

Other notable features of the Taylor 914ce 1996 include a Grover tuning machine, a slightly shallower body depth, and a hand-rubbed, synthetic bone nut and compensated saddle. These details ensure the guitar stays in tune and plays comfortably, allowing players to focus on their performances instead of worrying about setup issues.

With its elegant design, superior craftsmanship, and exceptional tone, the Taylor 914ce 1996 is a prized possession for many guitar enthusiasts. If you are in the market for a high-quality acoustic-electric guitar, this model is definitely worth considering. Its enduring appeal and continued popularity among players make it a sound investment for both novice and seasoned musicians.

A Detailed Analysis of Buying a Taylor 914ce Acoustic Guitar (1996): Pros, Cons, and Recommendations

The Taylor 914ce, released in 1996, is a highly regarded acoustic-electric guitar known for its tonal qualities and versatility. This section provides an unbiased analysis of buying this model, with pros, cons, a conclusion, and recommendations.

Pros:

1. Exceptional Tone: The Taylor 914ce is renowned for its tonal balance and clarity. It has a Solid Sitka Spruce top and Layered Rosewood back and sides which combined provide a well-balanced and articulate sound.

2. Versatile Playability: The guitar's compact Grand Symphony body size offers improved comfort and easier maneuverability compared to some other larger acoustic body styles.

3. CE Design: The acoustic-electric design (CE) comes with ES-2 electronics, allowing convenient and high-quality amplified performance for live shows and studio recordings.

4. Construction for Sustainability: This instrument benefits from Taylor's reputation for excellent craftsmanship and stringent quality control. The guitar has a Venetian cutaway, making it easier to access the upper frets, and features a Tusq nut and bridge for superior tuning stability.

Cons:

1. Price Point: With a higher price range, the Taylor 914ce may not be affordable for all potential buyers. Depending on the market, it may not represent the best value for the price.

2. Delicate Nature: As a premium acoustic-electric guitar with a solid top, great care and appreciation are required when transporting it, as the top is susceptible to exposure to extreme temperature or humidity changes, which could potentially damage the wood.

3. detachable pickguard: Aesthetically, some players might not prefer the detachable pickguard as it could affected the guitar's overall appearance; however, this also allows ease of customization.

Conclusion:

The Taylor 914ce acoustic-electric guitar (1996) offers exceptional tone, versatile playability, high-quality electronics, and solid craftsmanship. However, these features come at a premium price point, requiring a commitment to care and potential maintenance costs and careful handling. While some players may find the detachable pickguard a disadvantage aesthetically, it also allows customization flexibility.

Recommendation:

If you are a dedicated guitarist looking for a versatile, high-quality, and professional-grade acoustic-electric guitar with a balanced yet articulate tone, the Taylor 914ce would be a great investment. Additionally, it's ideal for players who require a portable instrument for live shows, studio recordings, or regular gigging. Prospective buyers should be prepared for the investment in cost, care, and potential maintenance costs to fully appreciate the tonal and playability capabilities of the Taylor 914ce.

Details:

The 900s series were the highest end model they had. Hi, I have owned this guitar since I purchased it new from the house of guitars in Rochester NY back in it is in very nice condition, but if you are looking for an pristine instrument that is in flawless condition this is not for you. They used the best visually tight grain even color and stiffest Angelina tops which exhibits a more played in tone with a deep bass response and a lovely sweet mid range that is not honky but with the clear ringing bell like trebles. I have tried to depict the flaws in the photos so make sure you view them.

For the past 10 years it has been in it's case for the majority of the time in an air conditioned environment waiting to be played again. These are the specs I found for the 1996 Taylor 914C grand auditorium 6 spruce top rosewood back satisfaction cutaway mahogany parent neck nut ebony fret board bridge abalone rosette Cindy fret board inlay abalone edged top red body neck binding gold Grover tuners bound dot ebony bridge pins no head stock or bridge inlay no abalone fret board extension gloss rosewood head stock Taylor 914C made in over the years it has acquired some cosmetic marks that in no way effect it's beautiful sound or play ability. For it's first 10 years it was a daily player in my home and has never been used for anything but that.
