Review TAKAMINE Tsunami Relief Guitar Play Pray

The Takamine TS-340S TR series guitar, specifically the Takamine TS-340S Takamine Tsunami Relief model, is a masterpiece of craftsmanship and social consciousness. This guitar is not just an instrument, but a statement of support and solidarity for the victims of the tsunami that devastated Japan in 2011, as a portion of its proceeds go towards disaster relief efforts.

The TS-340S boasts a sleek, glossy natural finish, adding an elegant touch to its body. The body shape is the acclaimed Takamine Tsunami Body, designed to provide a rich, resonant sound with excellent projection and balance. This body shape is derived from the traditional Japanese boat-building techniques, making it a truly unique feature of this guitar.

The neck is made from mahogany, which provides a warm, rich tone, and features a 12-inch radius rosewood fretboard with 20 frets. The bridge is also made from rosewood, and the nut and saddle are made from synthetic bone, ensuring accuracy and stability in the intonation of the instrument.

The TS-340S is equipped with Takamine's renowned TLD pickups, offering exceptional clarity and detail in the sound reproduction. These pickups are designed to capture the natural tonal character of the guitar, providing a truly authentic playing experience for musicians.

The guitar has a scale length of 25.57 inches and comes with a hardshell case, ensuring safe and secure transportation. The hardshell case also offers added protection against the elements, making it an excellent investment for guitarists who want to keep their instrument in pristine condition.

In summary, the Takamine TS-340S Takamine Tsunami Relief guitar is more than just a musical instrument. Its stunning design, excellent craftsmanship, and unique history make it a cherished piece in any musician's collection. Moreover, by purchasing this guitar, you are contributing to a cause greater than yourself, making every strum, every chord, and every melody a meaningful expression of music and compassion.

A Comprehensive Analysis of the Takamine TS-340S TR Pros and Cons; Should You Buy It for Takamine's TR Series Charity Project "Play.Pray.Give."?

Introduction:

The Takamine TS-340S TR guitar, part of Takamine's TR Series charity project "Play.Pray.Give," is an intriguing option for musicians looking for a high-quality instrument while contributing to a worthy cause. This analysis aims to help potential buyers make an informed decision by presenting the pros and cons of this guitar.

Pros:

1. Solid Build: The TS-340S TR features a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides. This combination results in a lively, balanced tone that projects well and resonates deeply.

2. Desirable Electronics Package: Equipped with Takamine's TP-4JR preamp system, this guitar offers a crisp, clear tone when plugged in. Discreetly mounted controls provide easy access to controls for volume, tone, and a notch filter for feedback control.

3. Playability: A straight-grained mahogany neck with a XIV-shaped profile and 12" radiused fretboard, coupled with Indian rosewood bridge and nut, offer a comfortable, easy-playing experience.

4. Attractive Appearance: In addition to its great sound and feel, the TS-340S TR boasts an elegant appearance with its natural finish and eye-catching black binding.

5. Charity Project: By purchasing the TS-340S TR, you contribute to Takamine's "Play.Pray.Give." campaign, which supports relief efforts in the aftermath of the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Cons:

1. Limited Fingerboard Inlay Markers: While the XIV-shaped profile of the neck and rosewood fretboard make for excellent playability, the lack of markers beyond the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, and 15th frets may make it more challenging to ascend the instrument with precision.

2. Pricing: Though the purchase of the TS-340S TR includes a contribution to the charity project, this guitar may be considered more expensive than some similar-specification guitars from other makers.

Conclusion:

The Takamine TS-340S TR presents an appealing combination of a solid build, great sound, comfortable playability, and a charitable cause. Its strengths include its versatile tone, discrete yet effective electronics, and an eye-catching appearance. Similarly, its limitations, such as the lack of comprehensive fingerboard markers and elevated price point, should be weighed against these advantages when making a decision. Ultimately, if you value the opportunity to support a worthy cause while acquiring a high-quality instrument with desirable features, the TS-340S TR is worth considering.

Recommendation:

If the TS-340S TR aligns with your needs and budget, we wholeheartedly recommend purchasing this Takamine guitar as a workhorse instrument for the studio or the stage. Its compelling sound and refined aesthetics make it a wise investment, while your contribution to the "Play.Pray.Give." charity effort adds a unique and meaningful dimension to the purchase. If, however, the lack of comprehensive fingerboard markers or price point is a significant concern, be sure to explore other options within your budget to ensure the best possible fit for your musical journey.
